Happy New Year! I wanted to start out 2018 with a reflective rundown of my favorite images from 2017. A loving glance behind as we move ahead into the new year. It’s been a weird year for me personally, as well as for APP, as I restructured my pricing and took fewer clients. 2017 was a success though; I hit some goals, reached some milestones, and worked with some of my favorite people in Richmond. It was a great seventh year in business! Here are some of my favorite shots of the year:
Rhett and his family moved from their West End home in May, and I was fortunate enough to meet up with them on their last day in the house. See more from our spring shoot here: Moving Out: West End Family Photos
My brother and his fiance’ were adorable at his post-grad commencement. I wrote a post about choosing the right background using this photo: Change Your Perspective
Carter was my most enthusiastic client this year. I had a blast with him and his mama again, this time at Belle Isle in September: Mr. Personality: Belle Isle Kid Photography
Rhett came back to me in October for his first birthday photos, and we found a fun mural downtown for a background. He loved the pumpkins I brought, and I loved his sweet smile and way he waved to strangers. A Big Milestone: Rhett Turns One
Melissa and her family were my last clients of the year, and even the freezing temps of late December couldn’t keep us down! Come back next week to see the full post with their photos.
Baxter is another returning client I’ve been so glad to watch grow up over the last few years. This little knee-hugger and his family joined me at Forest Hill Park in November, which was perfect timing for autumn leaves. Leaps and Bounds: Southside Family Photos
This quick photo shoot my partner and I did in late October was fun, even though I do tend to prefer to be on the other side of the camera. If You Don’t Know, Now You Know
Bonus… this is how I’ve spent the last 9 months of the year. Nine months flies by when you’re not the one pregnant… but it’s a really long time when you’re feeling all the feelings.

Happy New Year, you guys! I’m so happy to start year eight of Allison Patel Photography and see where 2018 takes us. As you can see, I’m really close to the end of my pregnancy; once the kid gets here, I’ll be taking some time off until sometime in March. Keep an eye out for my return announcements, and in the meantime, follow me on Instagram, allisonpatelphotography.
