I popped into Church Hill last Saturday and parked across from a beautifully renovated home in my favorite shade of blue. I was there for baby Brooklyn’s newborn photos, but Ed was the most excited to see me. A 75-pound hound mix, Ed greeted me with a stereotypical doggy excitedness, while Jack the cat coolly waited for me to come and rub his fluffy belly on the living room floor.
Dori and Matt just recently moved to Richmond, and settled into their new home just in time for Brooklyn to join them in early February. She seems to fit right into this newly enlarged little family, napping on and off through Ed’s barks of hello and Jack’s tail flicks, while Dad fussed at them both for being unruly and Mom greeted me at the door.
We met at 10am that day, and the mid-morning winter light was perfect in their neutral-colored living room. It was a morning of firsts, like most mornings are with a 12-day old newborn. First bottle that wasn’t in the middle of the night. First fussy morning – but we fixed that (ahem, bottle). First family photo session in their new home. They were naturals.
Time out for a bottle break!
We bounced upstairs for a change of scenery, and the light was even prettier up there.
She’s hungry like the wolf(pack).
Thank you, Dori, Matt, and Brooklyn (and Ed and Jack) for welcoming me into your home and hanging out with me!
