After a brief existential crisis, I’ve rediscovered why I do what I do, and why Allison Patel Photography exists. And I’m here to reiterate it in no uncertain terms.

I give myself a deadline for a personal project, make myself a week late right out of the gate, and start talking to myself like the blog is Michael Scott’s diary. It’s a real professional photographer rollercoaster.

I appreciate you, because I was you. You’re ridiculously busy. So when you reach out, I know your time is precious. I appreciate you spending the little time you have, working with me.

Sometimes an outfit is just an outfit. Sometimes it’s more, and it needs a whole section of a post dedicated to it. Along with skinned knees and staticky hair and all the beautiful, mundane parts of an ordinary life.

It’s time for another installment from my personal project. I recently took a class on finding light that has really influenced this month’s images.

You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be in it, with them. You are enough for the photograph.

These are the things that matter. The little activities that don’t mean much in the moment but make up an entire month, an entire life, when you look back.
