Richmond Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

A new dad smiles down at his newborn son, who stares back up at him.

Those hazy early days: the contact naps, the fist curled around your finger while they nurse, the way they fit on your chest like they were made for it.

Your brain is working so hard just to survive that it may not be able to hold onto any of this.

Memory consolidation is tied to sleep quality and duration, and you have less of both at exactly the wrong time.

Your baby isn't going to remember any of this either.

But the photos won’t forget.

Let the photos we make of real life do the heavy memory lifting for you. Stay home and relax. Let me come to you and record the life you’re already living, so your brain has one less thing to carry.

Richmond Newborn Photography Session Details

A newborn baby boy sleeping upright on his dad's shoulder with a little smile. His little back wrinkles are all puckered on one side.

A lifestyle newborn photography experience at home, with enough time banked in for cluster feeding, snacks for older siblings, and diaper changes.

What’s included:

  • Guidance through the process, including a prep guide and getting-to-know-you form to mold your session around your family

  • ~ 90 minutes of photography at your home

  • Professional photo editing

  • All of the edited, high resolution digital images from our session

  • $300 print credit to use in the gallery store

Half of the $1400 session fee is due to book; the other half is due after our session, before the photos are delivered.

What to Expect

  • A newborn baby being held by an adult, with the baby crying or yawning, lying on a surface with a blurred background.

    Before Your Session

We’ll go over everything and answer all your questions before we work together. Then, half of the session fee and a signed contract will hold your spot on my calendar. I’ll send you a getting-to-know-you form to help us put together a session that reflects your family and what you want to remember.

  • A family sitting on a dark brown sofa. The mother, wearing a green sweater, is holding a newborn baby close to her chest. The father, with a beard, is sitting to the left with an older child sitting on his lap, looking at the camera. The scene appears warm and intimate in a living room setting.

    The Session

I’ll come to you, in Richmond, Chesterfield, Henrico, Powhatan, or Hanover. We’ll find the best light in your house and hang out for about 90 minutes, reserving time for snack breaks, older siblings, and all the parenting in-betweens.

  • A baby lying on a white fuzzy blanket with red accents, wrapped in a multicolored crochet blanket, held gently by an adult wearing a navy blue shirt with rolled-up sleeves and a gold bracelet.

    After Your Session

I’ll edit your photos, and within two weeks I’ll email you with a link to your photo gallery. You'll be able to download the edited photos straight from your gallery, and use the included print credit to make prints, books, or wall art so you can get your favorite images off your computer into the places your family can enjoy them.

You don’t have to be a pro at parenting or photography for this.

Newborn photography isn’t about perfection.

It’s about you, your family, and the remarkable journey you’re on together, starting now.

“I was honestly shocked the photos were so good because I only remember [the baby] being fussy. Thank you 😭💛”

Got Q’s? I’ve got A’s.

  • I read a post on Reddit that asked “what do you do after you get home with a newborn?” and I think the answers to that basically sum up what a lifestyle newborn session is like: feeding, caring for, and cuddling with this new little being, and taking 8000 photos (give or take) of them sleeping.

If you have a toddler, the session (and your attention) will be split, and somehow it will also flow naturally, like a regular day at home with a baby and a toddler.

  • This is a great question that really depends on your needs and desires. We’ll talk more about this during our phone consultation, but here’s a blog post I wrote that goes into some detail, too.

  • Just let me know when you fill out the contact form that you’re interested in both, and we’ll talk about both in our phone consultation. 30 minute add-on maternity sessions are $450 and include 25 images to download and $90 print credit for the print store.

“She was incredible…”

“We worked with Allison to capture our two week old newborn. She was incredible balancing a sleepy baby, a nosey dog, and overtired parents during our photoshoot. I am very happy with our photos and our experience working with her.”
